I don't have anywhere to post this so i'll revive my lj:

Getting the Wii :D

I went to the Wal-Mart nearby with my mom to find that it wasn't a 24/7 store. Meaning, there's no midnight release so I'd have to wait outside in the cold. (It closes at 11pm... goddangit why can't you stay open for one more hour??) So I did, starting at 7pm. Store opens at 7am. Okay, 12 hours in the cold. I can manage that. Around 3am it starts snowing - pretty hard too. Omg it was sooo cold XD; I was bundled up in a lil circle on my chair with like 5 blankets around me.

But anyways. The first people lining up were a college student I'm assuming, his little brother, and most likely his little brother's friends. The two kids were freshies, age 14 and 15. The two kids were too engaged in having fun in their nice warm tent, so I don't know much about them. The older brother was a nice guy, offering the NNHS graduated couple at the end chairs and comforting them about... an issue soon to be discussed. Behind them were 2 smoker friends. Also very nice people... who got a friend to send them hot chocolate twice during the night. Then --these are the key people in the night-- there was this family of 3 Indian people- 2 kids and a mother. The 2 kids lined up before us, and shortly after we arrived, the mother comes and takes one of hte kids away for dinner. At this time we were like, oh, sure, go ahead. We're all in the same boat. An hour and a half later they return, the kid comes back to the line, the other kid leaves. Smart idea to avoid the cold and still save a spot. BUT. The kids wanted 2 Wiis. Even though they weren't both there to line up. So at this point of time I was a bit annoyed.

Around 10:30 pm the mother comes and claims to the crowd that she wants one too, and lines up with the two kids. We all revolted cause she was cutting in line and just being greedy. (My mom and I and the couple were lined up behind her. We were told there were 8 Wiis. Her cutting in would cut off the couple, who at this point in time was still standing with no jackets or anything.) She didn't care. 10 minutes later she went to hibernate in her car. We're all like what the heck. -___- at this point. So we talked to the kids. They were nice kids, but they didn't care either and didn't say anything to the mom. So we went to sleep.

At 3 AM my mom wakes, notices the kids' two chairs empty, and finds the entire family hibernating in their car. My mom goes back to sleep. My mom wakes again at 4 AM, and still finds the entire family in the car. She removes the chairs from the line. The crowd cheers. We scooch up into the line. Woohoo!

At 4:30 AM the family wakes. The mom steps out of the car, walks toward us, and yells. We yell back. "The line is here, not in the parking lot, ma'am," "You can't sleep in your car while we're all out here freezing to death and expect to still have your spot," etc. She returns this saying we aren't the ones who are in charge of the line. But obviously no one listens to her and after a while she gives up, and goes line up at the end with the two kids. Or so we thought. She kept walking around the line the entire morning, finding ways to cut people. At one point she walked inside the store entrance to 1. stay warm, and 2. be in front of the line. But she was soon kicked out. Meanwhile, a car pulls by, offering to sell a Wii for $400 USD. No one accepts. Come on, it's only 3 more hours; it's not worth it.

At 6:30 AM a man steps out, telling us they have 20. We count off. The mother counted one, the two kids remained silent. Thus, for the three of them, they only get one. Shortly before 7 the man comes again, handing out tickets. The family claimed three. We all yelled at them for ruining the count and making the last couple of people go home emptyhanded. The family yelled at the man, claiming tha thtey've been waiting since 7 last night, which is true, but it's their fault for not calling their spot. -_- So obviously the whole crowd revolts to the manager guy. The father comes out from the car and starts yelling at the manager too. Many yelled at him to shut up and go back to the car since he knew nothing of what was going on. (The mom gets soo pissed at the words "shut up.") He calls some more staff out. Meanwhile the mom is still claiming that he miscounted them. The two kids remain silent.

The staff concluded to give t hem only one, but the mom refused to hand over the ticket. So the staff went over to the counter and specifically warned them not to sell a Wii to them. The first ten charge inside. (I was #6) I run, and find zero nunchucks. But that's okay, I hogged the rest of the remotes. :D (4) We got a total of 4 remotes and 2 Wiis. My brothers, who got their stuff at midnight, also got 2 Wiis, a couple of remotes, and my games. So my family has 4 wiis now. Awesome. <3 As we were walking out we noticed the family got 2 Wiis. A little pissed, cause they still managed to get 2, but the 2 kids deserved it. The mom didn't.
